We want waterways to be inclusive & relevant and to make a difference locally. We want more people to use waterways and be involved in their care, because with waterways there’s always lots to do.

You can get active by helping with event management at our festivals, or if you have joinery or horticulture skills you could consider mentoring our younger volunteers? Full training will be provided.

Volunteering – a prescription for good health

We know there is a strong link between benefits to mental health and increased levels of physical activity. In fact, outdoor activity is increasingly being used to support health recovery and wellbeing. So when you volunteer with TWC, you’re taking positive steps towards supporting and maintaining a healthy, active life.

Volunteer Programme

Just about anything to do with waterways can be volunteered. That is why TWC in partnership with Volunteer Now is developing a range of roles and a series of volunteering programmes. To see live volunteering opportunities go to www.volunteernow.co.uk

Volunteer programmes are aimed at, for example:

  • those who face barriers to entering the workplace

  • those with learning difficulties

  • those about to retire

  • families and individuals looking for an outdoor activity with purpose

We welcome church, community, school groups and clubs to come together on volunteering days to work on tailored projects. Our volunteers receive accreditation for their involvement which can be used to help secure employment. Or simply volunteer as part of your personal development towards living a fulfilled, healthy and happy life.
